Pinak meaning
Pinak (पिनाक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The staff or bow of Rudra-Śiva; Śiva's trident
Pinak (पिनाक) is the Sanskrit pināka, the bow of Shiva. Monier-Williams gives it as a staff or bow, especially that of Rudra-Shiva, and also as his trident, a sense found from the Atharva Veda onward. Shiva is therefore called Pinākin or Pinākapāṇi, "he who holds the Pinaka". In the Ramayana it is this great bow, kept at King Janaka's court, that Rama lifts and breaks to win Sita's hand. Name lists give "Shiva's bow", the same as the dictionary. Gujarati families also use the form Pinakin.
