Pushpalata meaning
Pushpalata (पुष्पलता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A flowering creeper
Pushpalata (पुष्पलता) joins Sanskrit puṣpa, "a flower, blossom", and latā, "a creeper", so it means "a flowering creeper". Monier-Williams gives puṣpa as a flower from the Atharvaveda onwards, and latā as any creeping or twining plant; in poetry latā can also mean a slender, graceful woman, which explains why a whole family of girls' names ends in -lata, such as Premlata and Hemlata. Pushpalata is a name of that family and is spelt Pushpalatha in South India.
