Rik meaning
Rik (ऋक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
A sacred verse of praise, especially of the Rigveda
Rik (ऋक, Bengali ঋক) is the Sanskrit word ṛk, the form that ṛc takes at the end of a word. It comes from the verb ṛc, "to praise", and Monier-Williams defines it as a sacred verse, especially one recited in praise of a deity. In the plural the word stands for the collected verses of the Ṛgveda, and the Ṛg- at the start of that name is the same word. The short, one-syllable name is a modern choice in Bengali families, who write it ঋক. It has no connection with the English nickname Rick, although the two sound alike.
