Saptarshi meaning
Saptarshi (सप्तर्षि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
The seven sages; the seven stars of Ursa Major
Also used to mean: the Great Bear constellation
Saptarshi (सप्तर्षि) means "the seven sages", from Sanskrit sapta, "seven", and ṛṣi, "sage". Monier-Williams records the word for the seven great seers of Hindu tradition and for the seven bright stars of Ursa Major, the Great Bear, which Indian astronomy names after them; a single member of the group can also be called a saptarṣi. Lists of the seven vary between texts, but Atri and Vasiṣṭha appear in most of them. As a given name, Saptarshi is used mainly in Bengal, where it joins wisdom and the night sky.
