Sartaj meaning
Sartaj (ਸਰਤਾਜ) is a Sikh boy's name of Persian origin (Punjabi usage).
A crown worn on the head; a chief, a leader
Also used to mean: crowned chief
Sartaj (ਸਰਤਾਜ) is the Persian sar-tāj, literally "head crown", from sar, head, and tāj, crown. The Mahan Kosh gives it as a crown, a royal canopy held over the head, and a chief or leading figure, and Steingass's Persian dictionary gives a chief or leader. In Punjabi and Urdu it is also used for someone held in the highest regard. Name lists give "crown" or "crowned chief". It is a boys' name in Sikh families; the Punjabi singer and poet Satinder Sartaaj uses it as his stage name.
