Yuvraj meaning
Yuvraj (युवराज) is a Hindu and Sikh boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Crown prince, heir apparent
Yuvraj (युवराज) is the Sanskrit yuvarāja, literally "young king", from yuvan, "young", and rājan, "king". Monier-Williams defines it as the heir apparent: the prince associated with the reigning king in the work of government, so not just any king's son but the one chosen to succeed. The dictionary also records Yuvarāja as a title of Maitreya, the future Buddha, and as the name of several authors. The word is still the everyday term for a crown prince in Hindi and Punjabi, and the name is used by Hindu and Sikh families alike. Its best-known bearer today is the cricketer Yuvraj Singh, player of the tournament when India won the 2011 World Cup.
