Seema meaning
Seema (सीमा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, सी, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Boundary, limit; parting of the hair
Seema (सीमा) is the Sanskrit sīmā, a boundary, border or landmark, which Monier-Williams cites from the law book of Manu and the Mahābhārata. MW also gives it as the parting of the hair, a sense it shares with the related word sīmanta. In Hindi and many other Indian languages sīmā is still the everyday word for a border or a limit, including a country's frontier. Name lists give the same meaning, "boundary" or "limit", and some add a link with the goddess Lakshmi that the dictionary does not record. The name is also spelled Sima. The Persian name Sima, "face, countenance", is a separate name that happens to sound the same.
