Charita meaning
Charita (चरिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Conduct, behaviour; deeds, adventures (carita)
Also used to mean: of good character
Charita (चरिता) is a feminine name from Sanskrit carita, from the verb car, "to move, to act". Monier-Williams gives carita as "going, moving, course", and especially "acting, doing, practice, behaviour", one's acts, deeds and adventures. It is the word behind titles such as Buddhacarita, the poet Ashvaghosha's life of the Buddha, and the related charitra means character. Baby-name lists give Charita as "of good character"; the dictionary word means conduct in general, so the "good" is the hope the name carries. Charitha is the usual South Indian spelling.
