Chakori meaning
Chakori (चकोरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A female cakora, the partridge fabled to live on moonbeams
Also used to mean: a bird that loves the moon
Chakori (चकोरी) is the female of the chakor, Sanskrit cakora, a partridge that Monier-Williams says is "fabled to subsist on moonbeams". In Sanskrit and Hindi poetry the chakor gazes all night at the moon, and it stands for devoted, longing love; Monier-Williams notes that an eye which drinks in a moon-like face is itself called a cakora. Baby-name lists give the name as "a bird that loves the moon", which matches the legend. The masculine Chakor is also used as a name.
