Shyam meaning
Shyam (श्याम) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Dark, black, dark blue; a rain cloud; the Indian cuckoo
Also used to mean: lord krishna
Shyam (श्याम) is Sanskrit śyāma, "dark". Monier-Williams gives black, dark blue or dark-coloured, and also brown, grey or green, and as nouns a rain cloud, the kokila or Indian cuckoo, a musical rāga, and Śyāma, a brother of Vasudeva, Krishna's father. In devotion Shyam is a familiar name of Krishna himself, from his dark complexion, and Apte records the fuller śyāmasundara, "dark and beautiful", as his epithet. Name lists give "dark" or "Lord Krishna". Shyam Benegal was a celebrated film director.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
