Sinan meaning
Sinan (سنان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Malayalam usage).
A spearhead, the iron head of a spear
Sinan (سنان, Malayalam സിനാൻ) is an Arabic word for a spearhead. Lane's Lexicon defines sinān as "a spear-head; the iron [head] of a spear" and places it under the root s-n-n. Name lists give the same meaning. The name has a long history in the Muslim world. A famous bearer is Mimar Sinan (c. 1490–1588), chief architect to the Ottoman sultans Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II and Murad III, who designed the Selimiye Mosque at Edirne. In Kerala it is given to Muslim boys on its own or after Muhammed, as in Muhammed Sinan.
