Rayyan meaning
Rayyan (ریان) is a Muslim and international boy's name of Arabic origin.
Satisfied with drink; having one's thirst quenched
Also used to mean: gate of Paradise
Rayyan (ریان) is the Arabic rayyān, from the root r-w-y, "to drink one's fill". Lane glosses it as satisfied with drinking, having drunk enough to quench one's thirst, the opposite of ʿaṭshān, "thirsty". The word does not occur in the Quran, but it is well known from hadith. In Sahih al-Bukhari the Prophet says that Paradise has a gate called ar-Rayyān, through which only those who fasted will enter on the Day of Resurrection, and that it is closed once they have gone in. Commentators connect the gate's name with the thirst that fasting people endure. Name lists today often describe Rayyan simply as "a gate of Paradise", alongside the dictionary sense. Rayan and Raiyan are other spellings.
