Sahil meaning
Sahil (साहिल) is a Hindu and Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin. By its first sound, सा, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The shore of a sea or great river; a coast
Sahil (साहिल, ساحل) is the Arabic sāḥil, the shore of a sea or of a great river, a coast. Lane's Arabic–English Lexicon enters it under the root s-ḥ-l. The word occurs in the Qur'an at 20:39, where the infant Moses, set adrift in a chest, is carried by the river to the bank. It is also an everyday word in Urdu and Hindi, which is why Sahil is given by both Muslim and Hindu families today. A few Indian name lists call it Sanskrit or add the meaning "guide", but no Sanskrit dictionary supports either, and the Arabic origin is clear. Sahil is easy to say in English and is also spelled Saahil.
