Taran meaning
Taran (तरण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A raft, boat; heaven, the 'final landing-place'; crossing over
Taran (तरण) is the Sanskrit taraṇa, from the verb tṝ, "to cross over". Monier-Williams gives the noun as a raft or boat, and also as heaven, explained as the "final landing-place" that the soul crosses to; the neuter means crossing over and overcoming misfortune. Name lists give Taran as "raft" or "heaven", both dictionary senses. The name is used in Hindu and Punjabi families alike; the Welsh name Taran, "thunder", is a different word.
