Varun meaning
Varun (वरुण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A Vedic god of the sky and waters; the ocean
Varun (वरुण) is the name of Varuṇa, one of the oldest gods of the Ṛgveda and one of the Ādityas, the sons of Aditi. Britannica describes him in the Vedic period as the god-sovereign of the sky and the upholder of ṛta, the cosmic and moral law, often invoked together with Mitra. Monier-Williams notes that in the Veda he is linked with the waters of the atmosphere, and that in later mythology he became the god of the ocean; Britannica adds that he became the guardian of the west. The word varuṇa itself can mean the ocean. Indian name lists give Varun as lord of the waters or rain god, which matches the dictionary. The name is used for boys across India.
