Varad meaning
Varad (वरद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Granting wishes or boons, answering prayers; a benefactor
Also used to mean: one who grants boons, Lord Ganesha
Varad (वरद) is the Sanskrit varada, made from vara, "a boon, a wish", and -da, "giving". Monier-Williams gives it as granting wishes or boons and ready to fulfil requests or answer prayers, said of gods and of people, and as a noun a benefactor. In Hindu images the varada-mudrā is the open, downward-facing palm of a deity bestowing blessings. In Maharashtra the name is linked with Ganesha through Varadvinayak of Mahad, one of the eight Ashtavinayak temples, so name lists often give it as "one who grants boons" or "Lord Ganesha". It is used by Marathi families.
