Valli meaning
Valli (வள்ளி) is a Tamil and Hindu girl's name.
Creeper; also Valli, wife of the god Skanda (Murugan)
Valli (வள்ளி) is Tamil vaḷḷi, which the Tamil Lexicon traces to Sanskrit vallī, "a creeper". Its senses include a climbing plant, a woman of the kuṟiñci hill country and the wife of Skanda, the god Murugan; a separate word vaḷḷi means the moon. In Tamil tradition Valli is found as a baby among creepers and raised by the hill chieftain Nambi. Murugan courts her in disguise and marries her, a story told in the Kanda Puranam, and Vallimalai in Tamil Nadu is honoured as her birthplace. Her sister Devasenā is Murugan's other consort. Tamil name lists give Valli as creeper or as Murugan's consort, matching the dictionary.
