Asghar meaning
Asghar (اصغر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Smaller, smallest; younger, youngest
Asghar (اصغر) is the Arabic aṣghar, the comparative and superlative of ṣaghīr, "small, young". Lane's lexicon defines it as smaller or smallest, lesser or least, whether in body, in rank or in age. For Indian Muslims the name recalls ʿAlī al-Aṣghar, the infant son of Imam Ḥusayn who was killed at Karbala, and it is given in his memory. It is the counterpart of Akbar, "greater, eldest". Name lists give Asghar as "younger" or "youngest".
