Atasi meaning
Atasi (अतसी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Common flax; Bengal sun-hemp
Atasi (अतसी) is the Sanskrit name of a flowering plant. Monier-Williams gives atasī as common flax, whose small flowers are a soft blue, and also as Bengal sun-hemp, a plant with bright yellow flowers. In Bengali the atasī is usually the golden one: the Samsad dictionary describes it as a golden-coloured flower, rattlewort, as well as flax and linseed. Name lists give it as the blue flax flower. It is a gentle Bengali girls' name, often spelt Atashi or Atoshi to follow Bengali pronunciation.
