Beulah meaning
Beulah is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
Married; from ba'al, 'to be master, to marry'
Beulah comes from a single verse, Isaiah 62:4, where the prophet promises that the land will no longer be called Forsaken or Desolate but Hephzibah and Beulah, 'for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married'. The Hebrew be'ulah is a form of ba'al, which Strong's defines as 'to be master' and hence 'to marry'. John Bunyan later used Beulah in The Pilgrim's Progress for the peaceful land that pilgrims reach near the end of their journey. It is used by Christian families in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.
