Bhimsen meaning
Bhimsen (भीमसेन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, भी, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Mula nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
'having a formidable army'; a name of Bhima, son of Pandu
Also used to mean: mighty, terrific
Bhimsen (भीमसेन) is Sanskrit bhīma-sena, from bhīma, "fearful, formidable", and senā, "army". Monier-Williams gives it as "having a formidable army" and as a name of the second Pāṇḍava, the strong man of the Mahābhārata usually called Bhīma. Baby-name lists give the name as "mighty" or "terrific", which reflects the sense of bhīma and the hero's strength rather than the full compound. It is used in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Nepal. The great Hindustani vocalist Bhimsen Joshi and the Nepali prime minister Bhimsen Thapa carried it.
