Elil (எழில்) is a Tamil unisex name, used for both girls and boys.

Elil (எழில்) is the Tamil word eḻil, written in English as Ezhil, since the special Tamil letter ழ is usually spelt zh. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives as its first sense "beauty, comeliness, gracefulness", followed by youth, an imposing appearance, height or loftiness, and strength. The Lexicon's citations come from classical Tamil poetry, including the Paripāṭal, the Puṟanāṉūṟu and the Tirukkuṟaḷ (verse 407), so this is an old literary word, not a recent coinage. Baby-name lists agree on "beauty". Ezhil is used for boys and girls, and it also forms longer names, such as Ezhilan for boys and Ezhilarasi for girls.
