Gandhimathi meaning
Gandhimathi (காந்திமதி) is a Tamil girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Tamil usage).
A woman of radiant beauty; the goddess of Tirunelveli
Gandhimathi (காந்திமதி) is the usual English spelling of Kanthimathi, from Sanskrit kāntimatī. The Tamil Lexicon glosses it as a woman with bright, radiant features, and Monier-Williams gives kāntimat as lovely and splendid. It is above all the name of the goddess Kanthimathi Amman, consort of Shiva as Nellaiappar in the great temple at Tirunelveli, and the name is used in that region. Despite the spelling, it has nothing to do with gandha, "fragrance". The veteran actress Gandhimathi, born Kanthimathi, appeared in hundreds of Tamil films.
