Haladhar meaning
Haladhar (हलधर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage).
Plough-holder, an epithet of Balarāma
Haladhar (हलधर, Odia ହଳଧର) is Sanskrit haladhara, "plough-holder". Monier-Williams gives it as an epithet of Balarāma, Krishna's elder brother, who carries a weapon shaped like a ploughshare. In Odisha Balarama is worshipped as Balabhadra beside Jagannath and Subhadra at Puri, and Odia writes the l of hala with the letter ḷa. A well-known bearer is the poet Haldhar Nag of western Odisha, who writes in Sambalpuri (Kosli), received the Padma Shri in 2016 and is known for reciting his long poems from memory.
