Harleen meaning
Harleen (ਹਰਲੀਨ) is a Sikh girl's name of Punjabi origin.
Absorbed in God (Hari)
Harleen (ਹਰਲੀਨ) joins har(i), which the Mahan Kosh gives among many senses as the Creator or Supreme God, with līn, "absorbed, merged, immersed". The two ideas meet in a salok of Guru Tegh Bahadur at Ang 1428, which laments a life that has still not become absorbed (līn) in the essence of the Lord (hari ras), though the name itself does not occur in scripture. The modern name writes hari as har. Baby-name lists agree on "absorbed in God"; a few give "God's grace", which the words themselves do not say. Harleen is chiefly a girl's name, usually as Harleen Kaur, and the same līn ending appears in Gurleen and Prabhleen.
