Lamia meaning
Lamia (لامعہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Shining, gleaming (feminine of lāmiʿ, from lamaʿa)
Also used to mean: radiant
Lamia (لامعہ) is the Arabic lāmiʿa, "shining", the feminine participle of lamaʿa. Lane's lexicon defines lamaʿa as to shine, gleam or glisten, as lightning does, and the same verb is used for waving a sword or cloth so that it flashes as a signal. Name lists give Lamia as "shining" or "radiant", matching the dictionary. The Arabic name has nothing to do with Lamia of Greek myth, and it is also distinct from Lamya, an Arabic word for a girl with dark lips. Families often spell it Lamiya.
