Afsana meaning
Afsana (افسانہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
A tale, fable or romance; also a spell, an incantation
Afsana (افسانہ) is the Persian afsāna, a story. Steingass's dictionary gives its senses in an interesting order: first a spell or incantation, then a fictitious tale, a fable or a romance, then a narrative of past events, and finally something notorious, a tale on everyone's lips. Related words include afsāna-go, "a writer of romances", and afsāna-sāz, "a storyteller". In Urdu, afsāna is also the ordinary word for a short story, the form in which writers such as Saadat Hasan Manto did much of their work. Name lists give Afsana as "story" or "tale", matching the dictionary. It is also spelled Afsaana.
