Leena meaning
Leena (लीना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ली, it is a Mesh rashi name (Bharani nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Clinging to, absorbed in, merged into; devoted to
Leena (लीना) is the feminine of Sanskrit līna, an adjective Monier-Williams cites from the Rāmāyaṇa, the Mahābhārata and the Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad. It describes someone clinging to, resting in or absorbed in something, merged into it or devoted to it; in other settings it can mean hidden, or dissolved and vanished. Indian name lists usually give the name as "devoted", one of these dictionary senses. The same spelling is also used in Muslim families, where it recalls Arabic līnah, the palm tree of Quran 59:5, an unrelated word that simply sounds alike. A well-known bearer is Leena Nair, who became global chief executive of Chanel in 2022.
