We haven't confirmed a dictionary meaning for the name itself.
Mawra (ماورا) is a modern name used mainly by Urdu-speaking families in Pakistan and India, and a well-known bearer is the actor Mawra Hocane, who starred in the Hindi film Sanam Teri Kasam (2016). We could not find the name or a matching word in the Urdu, Persian or Arabic dictionaries. One possibility is the Arabic mā warāʾ, "what lies beyond", which Platts records in Urdu as "beyond, besides" and which appears in mā warāʾ al-nahr, "the land beyond the river". Because this link is not confirmed, we do not give a meaning for the name.
