Nazir meaning
Nazir (نذیر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A warner; one who gives notice of danger
Also used to mean: herald
Nazir (نذیر) is the Arabic nadhīr, which Urdu speakers pronounce with a z. Lane's lexicon gives it as one who brings information or advice, a warner who cautions others. The Quran uses the word for the Prophet and for earlier prophets: "We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good news and a warner" (35:24). Name lists give Nazir as "warner" or "herald". A different word, naẓīr (نظیر), "peer, equal", is also spelt Nazir in English; the poet Nazir Akbarabadi bore that form.
