Nimra meaning
Nimra (نمرہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
A leopardess (feminine of namir); also a striped woollen cloak
Nimra comes from the Arabic root n-m-r. Lane's lexicon gives namir, also said nimr, as the leopard or panther, named for its spots, and notes that the feminine adds -a, giving namira, a leopardess. The same form namira also names a striped woollen cloak worn by the Arabs of the desert, and numra is a spot or speck of any colour; namīr, on the same page, is pure, wholesome water. Baby-name lists most often give Nimra as 'female leopard', which matches the dictionary; the meaning 'beautiful', seen on a few sites, has no support there. The name is used by Muslim families in Pakistan and India, spelt Nimra or Nimrah.
