Padmini meaning
Padmini (पद्मिनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lotus plant; a mass of lotuses or lotus pond
Also used to mean: lakshmi
Padmini (पद्मिनी) is formed from padma, "lotus". Monier-Williams gives padminī as the whole lotus plant, a mass of lotuses or a lotus pond, and a lotus stalk; it also names a female elephant and, in the old treatises on love, the finest of the four types of women. Name lists today keep it simple as "lotus", and some link it to Lakshmi. The best-known Padmini is Rani Padmini of Chittor, heroine of Malik Muhammad Jayasi's poem Padmavat (1540); historians doubt that she existed, but her story is retold across Rajasthan.
