Rupal meaning
Rupal (रूपल) is a Hindu girl's name. By its first sound, रू, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Meaning today
Silver, beautiful
In the dictionaries
The name isn't in the classical dictionaries we use, so it is most likely a modern name. The meaning above is how families commonly use it.
Rupal (रूपल) is a modern name that we could not find in the Sanskrit or Hindi dictionaries. Name lists give it two meanings, "beautiful" and "silver", and each points to a real word. Sanskrit rūpa, which Monier-Williams gives as form, shape and appearance, and also as beauty, grace and loveliness, would explain "beautiful". Hindi rūpā, which Platts records as silver and traces to Sanskrit rūpyaka, would explain "silver". Neither link is documented for Rupal itself, so both are best read as meanings families attach to the name rather than as its proven origin. Rupal is also the name of a valley below Nanga Parbat in the western Himalaya, which is unrelated.
