Spandana meaning
Spandana (स्पंदना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu and Kannada usage).
Throbbing, pulsation, quivering; throbbing with life
Also used to mean: heartbeat
Spandana (స్పందన, ಸ್ಪಂದನ) is Sanskrit spandana, from the root spand, "to throb" or "to quiver". Monier-Williams defines it as throbbing, pulsation, palpitation and quivering, and also as the quickening of an unborn child, life stirring for the first time. Name lists give it simply as "heartbeat", which is a fair summary of the dictionary sense. The related word spanda is central to Kashmir Śaiva philosophy, where it names the pulse or vibration of consciousness. Spandana is used as a girls' name mainly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
