Tamizh meaning
Tamizh (தமிழ்) is a Tamil unisex name, used for both girls and boys.
Sweetness; the Tamil language, people and land
Tamizh (தமிழ்) is tamiḻ, the Tamil name for the Tamil language itself, spelled with the letter ழ that gives the word its distinctive sound. The Tamil Lexicon's first two senses are sweetness or melodiousness and refinement, both taken from the old Piṅkalam lexicon. It then lists the Tamil language in its three forms, literary, musical and dramatic; Tamil literature; the Tamil people, with a line from the Cilappatikāram; and the Tamil country, citing the Maṇimēkalai. The Lexicon's suggested origin is marked as uncertain, so the word's deeper root is not settled. As a name it expresses pride in the language and its culture. It is given to both boys and girls, and forms longer names such as Tamizhselvan and Tamizharasan.
