Yashwant meaning
Yashwant (यशवंत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Glorious, famous, honourable; splendid, excellent
Also used to mean: one who has fame
Yashwant (यशवंत) is the Hindi and Marathi form of Sanskrit yaśasvat, made from yaśas, "fame, glory", and the ending -vat, "possessing". Monier-Williams gives yaśasvat as glorious, famous and honourable, a sense already found in the Ṛg-veda, and also as splendid, magnificent and excellent, or pleasant and dear. The name has a long history in Maharashtra, where it was borne by the Maratha ruler Yashwantrao Holkar and by Yashwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of the state, and later by the politician Yashwant Sinha. Name lists give it as "glorious" or "famous", matching the dictionary. In the South it is written Yashwanth.
