Yatindra meaning
Yatindra (यतींद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
'king of ascetics' (= yatirāja); a name of Ramanuja
Also used to mean: lord of ascetics, chief of ascetics
Yatindra (यतींद्र) joins Sanskrit yati, "an ascetic who has restrained his passions", and indra, which at the end of a compound means "chief, lord". Monier-Williams gives yatīndra as the same as yatirāja, "king of ascetics", a title of the eleventh-century philosopher Rāmānuja. Some name lists add "Lord Indra", but here indra only means "chief". In Bengal the name is pronounced Jatindra, as with the revolutionaries Jatindranath Mukherjee, known as Bagha Jatin, and Jatindra Nath Das, who died on hunger strike in 1929. Yatin, already on the site, is a related short name. Name lists give it as "lord of ascetics", matching the dictionary.
