Aadhya meaning
Aadhya (आद्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
First, being at the beginning; (ādyā) a name of Durga
Aadhya (आद्या) comes from Sanskrit ādya, "being at the beginning, first". Monier-Williams also gives the senses "primitive" and "being at the head, unparalleled, unprecedented, excellent", and records the feminine ādyā as a name of the goddess Durgā and, from the old lexicons, as "the earth". Indian name lists today give much the same meaning, "first" or "primal", and often link the name to Durga, so popular use and the dictionary agree. The dictionary word is spelled with a plain d (आद्या). The name is also written आध्या, with dh, which is a modern spelling of the same name rather than a different word. A second, unrelated Sanskrit ādya, from the root ad, "to eat", simply means "edible".
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
