Aamir meaning
Aamir (عامر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Living long; remaining, dwelling or abiding in a place
Also used to mean: prosperous, full of life
Aamir (عامر) is the Arabic ʿāmir, the active participle from the root ʿ-m-r, which joins the ideas of life, living long and inhabiting a place. Lane's first sense is "living long". He also gives "remaining, dwelling or abiding" in a place, and, said of land or a house, "peopled" or "in a flourishing state". Name lists today usually give Aamir as "prosperous" or "full of life", which sit close to those senses. Aamir should not be confused with Amir (أمير), "commander, prince", which begins with a different letter and comes from another root. In India the best-known bearer is the actor Aamir Khan, star of Lagaan (2001), which was nominated for an Academy Award, and Dangal (2016).
