Qayyum meaning
Qayyum (قیوم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Everlasting, self-subsisting; an epithet of God
Also used to mean: self-existing, eternal
Qayyum (قیوم) is the Arabic qayyūm, an intensive form from the root q-w-m, "to stand, to rise". Platts's Urdu dictionary gives it as permanent, lasting and everlasting, stable and steady, and notes that it is an epithet of God. It is best known from the Throne Verse of the Quran: "God, there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining" (2:255). Name lists give Qayyum as "self-existing" or "eternal". Because al-Qayyūm is a divine name, the full form Abdul Qayyum, "servant of the Everlasting", is used in India, and Qayyum on its own is also used.
