Afifa meaning
Afifa (عفیفہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
(of a woman) chaste, virtuous; abstaining from what is unlawful
Also used to mean: modest
Afifa (عفیفہ) is the feminine of Arabic ʿafīf, from the root ʿ-f-f, which means to hold back or refrain. Lane's lexicon defines ʿafīf as one who abstains, above all from what is unlawful, and says that ʿafīfa, used of a woman, means excellent, righteous or virtuous, and more commonly chaste. The related noun ʿiffat, "modesty, purity", is a familiar Urdu word and itself a girl's name. Name lists give Afifa as "chaste", "modest" or "virtuous", in line with the dictionary.
