Agraj meaning
Agraj (अग्रज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Born first; the first-born, an elder brother
Also used to mean: leader
Agraj (अग्रज) is Sanskrit agraja, made of agra, "front, first", and -ja, "born", so it describes one who was born first. Monier-Williams gives born first or earlier, the first-born and an elder brother; the feminine agrajā is an elder sister. The opposite word, anuja, "born after, a younger brother", gives the name Anuj. Baby-name lists give Agraj as "first-born", "elder" or "leader"; the first two are the dictionary sense and "leader" is a looser modern reading. It is used mainly in Hindi-speaking families.
