Ambikapathy meaning
Ambikapathy (அம்பிகாபதி) is a Tamil boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Tamil usage).
Lord of Ambikā: Shiva as Parvati's husband; also Kambar's poet son
Ambikapathy (அம்பிகாபதி) joins Ambikā, a name of the goddess Parvati, with pati, "lord, husband". The Tamil Lexicon gives two senses: Shiva as Parvati's husband, and the poet Ambikapathi, son of Kambar, the author of the Tamil Ramayana, credited with the Ampikāpati-kōvai. Tamil tradition tells how the young poet fell in love with a Chola princess and was put to death for it, a story filmed as Ambikapathy in 1937 and 1957. Some name sites call it "son of Ambika", but the word means her lord. It is a Tamil Shaiva name.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
