Gourahari meaning
Gourahari (गौरहरि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage).
The golden Hari (gaura 'fair, golden' + hari, Vishnu-Krishna)
Gourahari (गौरहरि, Odia ଗୌରହରି) joins gaura and hari. Monier-Williams gives gaura as white, yellowish or pale red, and also shining or beautiful, and notes that it is a name of Chaitanya, the sixteenth-century saint whose followers revered him as Krishna. Hari, a word for tawny and golden colours, is above all a name of Vishnu and Krishna. Gourahari, "the golden Hari", brings the two together. The compound is not a dictionary headword. The name is used mainly in Odisha, where Chaitanya spent his last years at Puri, and it is spelled with Gou- as Odia pronounces it. Bearers include the Odia writer and journalist Gourahari Das, a Sahitya Akademi Award winner.
