Harjinder (ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ) is a traditional Sikh name, given to men and also to women. Its first part is har(i), one of the commonest names for God in the Guru Granth Sahib; the Mahan Kosh lists the Creator among its many senses. The ending -jinder, shared with Sukhjinder, Manjinder and Baljinder, is not explained in the dictionaries we checked. Name lists offer quite different meanings, from "protector of the Lord" to "favourite of God", so we do not give one. The historian Harjinder Singh Dilgeer is a well-known bearer.
