Ishwar meaning
Ishwar (ईश्वर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ई, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Master, lord, king; God, the Supreme Being; a name of Śiva
Also used to mean: supreme lord
Ishwar (ईश्वर) is Sanskrit īśvara, from the verb īś, "to rule, to own". Monier-Williams gives it first as able or capable, then as master, lord, prince or king, and in religious use as God, the Supreme Being and the supreme soul, and as a name of Shiva. It is the everyday word for God in Hindi and many Indian languages, so the name is understood everywhere. The great Bengali reformer and educator Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar carried it. Ishvar, Eshwar and Iswar are other spellings.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
