Karishma meaning
Karishma (करिश्मा) is a Hindu girl's name of Persian origin.
A wonder, a miracle; a charming glance
Karishma (करिश्मा) comes from the Persian word kirishma or karishma. Steingass's Persian dictionary gives it a lovely range: a wink or sidelong glance, a charming or coquettish gesture, a sign of favour, and a wonder or miracle. In Hindi and Urdu the miracle sense won out, so karishmā today means a marvel or something extraordinary. Name lists give "miracle", matching the dictionary; a few call it Sanskrit, but the word is Persian. A well-known bearer is the actress Karisma Kapoor.
