Kumar meaning
Kumar (कुमार) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, कु, it is a Mithun rashi name (Ardra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A child, boy, youth; a prince; a name of Skanda
Kumar (कुमार) is Sanskrit kumāra. Monier-Williams gives a child, boy or youth, a son, and a prince or heir-apparent, and also lists it as a name of Skanda, the war god Kārttikeya. Britannica explains that Skanda is called Kumāra, 'the youth', because he is generally considered never to have married. In modern India Kumar is used as a first name and, very often, as a middle name or surname following a given name. Its feminine counterpart is Kumari, 'girl' or 'princess'. Because it is short and widely understood, Kumar also combines easily into longer names such as Rajkumar, literally 'prince', and Vijaykumar.
