Mateen meaning
Mateen (متین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Strong, stout, firm, hard
Also used to mean: steadfast
Mateen (متین) is the Arabic matīn, which Lane's lexicon defines as strong, stout, firm or hard, and more widely as possessing any quality in a strong degree. The root also gives matn, which Lane explains as the back, the firmly bound flesh on either side of the backbone. Al-Matīn, "the Firm", is one of the names of God, used in the Quran at 51:58. Name lists give the meaning as "strong", "firm" or "steadfast", in line with the dictionary. Families also use the full form Abdul Mateen.
