Qaim meaning
Qaim (قائم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Standing, upright; firm, lasting; steadfast
Qaim (قائم) is the Arabic qāʾim, "one who stands", from qāma, "to stand up". Platts's Urdu dictionary gives it as standing or erect, firm, fixed and lasting, and also vigilant and persevering; in everyday Urdu qāʾim rehnā means "to stay firm" and qāʾim-maqām is a deputy. Name lists give Qaim as "standing" or "steadfast". In Shia Islam al-Qāʾim, "the one who will rise", is a title of the twelfth Imam, the awaited Mahdi, so the name is chosen especially in Shia families.
